British Cycling can today announce that bike tire specialist Schwalbe is to become an official partner of the National Cross-country Series, National Cross-country Championships and National Marathon Championships for the 2022 season, extending their long-standing support for the British mountain biking community.

The 2022 calendar begins this weekend with round one of the National Cross-country Series at the Parkwood Outdoor Centre in Tong, with this year’s National Cross-country Championships taking place in Glentress on the weekend of 23-24 July. The National Marathon Championships will once again take place in Kielder Forest, following the success of last year’s championships at the same venue.

Working with Schwalbe will enable British Cycling to further boost investment into the events and support the future growth and sustainability of the discipline, following the publication of the organisation’s first long-term plan for the discipline in June 2021.

Ahead of the announcement Darren Henry, British Cycling Commercial Director, said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Schwalbe on board as the Official Partner of our showpiece national cross-country and marathon events, highlighting their commitment to the British mountain biking scene and our ambition to continue growing the stature and profile of the events in the future.

“Our national series and championships continue to provide a vital launchpad for the country’s most successful pro riders, like Tom Pidcock and Evie Richards, and we can’t wait to get another busy season underway this weekend in Tong.”

Tim Ward, Head of Marketing at Schwalbe, said:

“Following on from our long-standing relationship with the National Cross-country series we are very pleased to not only be in attendance at these great races, but to be supporting and putting our name to the series and giving back to the cross-country race community, who offer their support to these races year in year out.

“Cross-country mountain bike racing provides an accessible platform for riders across a wide spectrum of ages and abilities to really test their technical skills and fitness against the best in the country. As an Olympic sport it’s important to support emerging talent and potential medal winners by helping to provide the right kind of races and environment in order that they can be the best they can be.”
