5 quick questions with Mark

What led you to working for British Cycling?

Back when the velodrome opened in 1994, I started checking the bikes at the Manchester Track League on Tuesday and Friday nights. I got chatting to Doug Dailey who was the national GB coach at the time and soon after he approached me to work for the GB Cycling Team on a voluntary basis. It all snowballed from there!

What motivates you?

The team winning.

What is your best experience with British Cycling, so far?

There are so many, it’s hard to pick one but if I had to it would be Sir Chris winning the Keirin Gold medal at the London Olympics.

Who is your hero?

Douglas Bader, who was an RAF fighter ace in the second world war – he achieved extraordinary things.

What advice would you give to a young rider?

Don’t give up.
